As noted, *if no style is defined*, then it appears just like a regular 
character. The idea is that it is user controlled. (But I actually chose 
the specific ยง character because it is *not *unlikely that people will want 
it to style "paragraphs" - also in law related texts, e.g indented or 
monospace etc.)

An alternative character might be to extend the wiki markup for quotations, 
i.e the > or <<<  Particularly the latter, which requires an otherwise 
empty line, should be doable (<<<3 to trigger some third styling). The 
single > character might be trickier.


IMO it will be very similar or the same as:

Really? Do you feel the same about the * and : markup? Might as well do it 
with @@... instead?

The point is to access ones own look/behaviour as smoothly as with e.g *
