Hi Tony, I did find a bug, that made it impossible to use \customize _element="$xxx" properly. ... There was a problem with the parameter parsing. It will be fixed with the next version.
I did also have a look, which widgets can be customized. .. It seems all of them should work. But I'm not sure, if that's really needed.
