FWIW, according to Wikipedia, VMware and Google Chrome both use SCons. I also happen to know that Google Native Client uses SCons. So perhaps this reasoning is shallow, but it seems to me that if SCons is good enough for these projects, it's certainly good enough for TigerVNC.
