err, no. How should it? All that layer does, is to *display* the oceantiles.dat 
status (of the server version of oceantiles.dat). But it can come in handy to 
check the value of oceantiles.dat and enable its correction.

I was not implying that an oceantiles layer was the solution to this problem 
(if it is one).
