Probably the chips have a maximum supply voltage of 5.5vdc. I assume you had one of the older monitors from Fluke.l and the +5vdc went directly to the chips. The newer units he is selling now have a 78M05 regulator and will work from about 7 volts to maybe 15. Good luck.
