I wonder whether Tiny or any of its partners are aiming at that size of
company? Do you see opportunities for Tiny ERP there against the major
commercial vendors and at least one of the established Java-based Open Source
ERP suppliers (they hope)?

Agreed. Which is why EnterpriseDB aims for Oracle compatibility with its
proprietary extensions to PostgreSQL - to take full advantage of the
hard-earned and entrenched Oracle skills.

(I wonder whether this is a way forward for Tiny - not to change from Postgres
but to partner with EnterpriseDB - but that's nothing to do with me!)

I've watched the relentless pressure for one of the other Open Source ERP
suppliers to provide an alternative to Oracle partly because of the license
cost, and partly of the need for skills that their customers don't have. They
headed towards EDB. It made me think that mid-size companies (250-5000) are not
as fixated on the big DB suppliers as they used to be.

Well ... if it was bad it would not even be an item for discussion :).

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,
Geoff
