> many proprietary software are more mature and feature rich.
Are you sure about that ? I often read such sentences from people having no real experience with these proprietary softwares. Following a thinking like "They are really expensive, they must be very good". Since a few months I am convinced of the contrary: Open ERP has much more features, less bugs and his more mature than current proprietary ERP's. (at least a few months after a new version, so that bugs are fixed). I have a strong experience on Axapta, Sage. I have a small experience with SAP BO. I think they are not comparable to Open ERP anymore ! It's incredible how much critical bugs I faced when trying to setup Axapta. I am comparing with proprietary ERP's for SME (up to 500 users). I have not a big experience with SAP R/3 nor Oracle.
Having knowledge of Axapta myself I strongly disagree with Fabien about maturity. OpenERP is clearly "green" compared to Axapta. It has potential, yes, and Fabien has achieved very much with very little. But hinting that they are interchangeable is just so out of true. Having more detailed argumented comparison wold be very benficial BTW. Such discussion would serve two useful purposes: - identify strong sides of openERP - this helps selling, this helps attract partners; (a strong side is where experts agree, not what fabien says) - do GAP analysis for missed industry-standard features - this is food for next release priorities now question is - how to open such discussion (blogspot / wiki site?). or it is there somewhere already? The point here is to argument. Like taking launchpad's hundreds of blueprint suggestions (ferdinand has done a lot of them) and actually discussing If we need feature, how to do this etc. And - do not be so obessed about version upgrade pain. Solution has to evolve and priority must be towards "right way" not towards "compatible way". -------------------- m2f -------------------- -- http://www.openobject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=42817#42817 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ Tinyerp-users mailing list http://tiny.be/mailman2/listinfo/tinyerp-users
