This has been my "not so good" experience with OpenERP after one week of testing:
-Using the Contact Us form on the website (over a week ago), I initially had some questions about licensing. I have never received a response. -I have posted 5 different questions in forums, and have never any responses to any of them. -I made several unsuccessful attempts over 2 days to download the free e-book but kept getting a php script error. Whats worse is that I actually got a "thank email" from OpenERP thanking me for downloading the book. I replied to the email saying that I could not download it, but have still not gotten a response back from them after 3 days. This appears to be fixed now but I was never notified that they were even trying to fix it! -The online demo does NOT work! I even posted that in the forum but I guess none of the developers read the forum posts. -I sent emails to 7 different OpenERP partners in the USA, UK & Canada, requesting quotes an installation help. Only ONE replied back to me (thank you NovaPointGroup.com ). So as you can see, my initial impression of the OpenERP team and community is not a very good one. It does not give me any confidence in wanting to buy a support contract when I don't even get responses to my emails. On the positive side, OpenERP appears to be an extremely flexible, pwoerful and complete package. The downside is that it is not very user friendly for new users, but the documentation does seem to be fairly good which is helps make up for that. I will spend a couple more weeks trying to figure OpenERP out myself. Hopefully further posts will receive some possible helpful answers. If I am successful in understanding and getting the hang of it, then I will move forward in implementing it for our company... otherwise I will continue my search for another solution.
