I guess I don't view it as my responsibility to help them 1) deal with their delusions or 2) perpetuate the refusal to learn to do simple math. If they are that clueless, I doubt it would matter if I tattooed their grades individually on their foreheads.

We are supposed to challenge them as adult learners.  Therefore I refuse to infantilize them. My philosophy (right or wrong) is that part of what we are supposed to do at college level (hell, at every level in education) is teach them to think for themselves. If they are going along expecting an A, and they get an F, well, that's a lesson for them too.
