Sorry, I disagree. Many of my students don't know how to calculate an 
average and apply it to a grading scale. Also, I have found that 
conferencing with poor students to get a tutor, take less credits, quit 
their full time job, join a study group, etc. reduces the # of students who 
get Ds or Fs.
