In my opinion which has never been humble, I thought the Botany of Desire was the most teleological book I have read seen I read some essays by various 19th Century antiDarwinian naturalists pointing out the "perfect design" of animals such as the giraffe. I also thought his style was even breathier than Natural History of the Senses. Sorry, my Serzone hasn't kicked in yet, but things are looking better, the coffee pot is now finished perking.
