Speaking of profiling (whether accurate or inaccurate), today's New York Times has an article about how the federal sky marshals who are assigned to be "inconspicuous passengers" on airplanes are requesting that the dress code (suit, tie, dress shoes, even on a hot day) be changed.  They complain that the present code makes them so conspicuous that a 12-year-old could pick them out, and thus endangers their safety since it must be concluded that terrorists would have the same ease.   http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/17/politics/17marshals.html   The argument given by the other side is that the air marshals' clothing shouldn't be "too casual," because they must dress to command respect in the event of a terrorist emergency.  (The Federal Air Marshal Service says there is a dress policy, but they declined to give specifics, citing "security sensitive information."  [Newsflash, FAMS:  I think the secret's out: on page A7 of the New York Times!])   Beth Benoit University System of New Hampshire --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
