TIPS members interested in both sides of the argument concerning the merits of remaining in or leaving APA may want to read the following debate between Dr. Kenneth Sher (University of Missouri at Columbia) and yours truly (Emory University) that appeared in the most recent issue of "Clinical Science," the newsletter of Section 3, Division 12 of APA (better known as the Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology or SSCP). As you'll see, my friend Sher argues that SSCP should remain in APA, whereas I disagree. Although the debate concerns SSCP specifically, its implications for other APA members should be obvious. There are clearly good arguments on both sides, and I leave it up TIPS members to weigh the pros and cons. ....Scott

The Master in the Art of Living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his intellectual passions. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him – he is always doing both.
