Just thinking about reducing "mental events" down to physical activities...
so, one day in order to test someone's knowledge of an area all we will
have to do is measure some physical activity (e.g., firing patterns between
a few neurons when presented with a certain question). Or would we even
need to present them with a stimulus if we could identify the structure of
neurons (for the lack of a better phrase) that represents different levels
of knowledge about a topic. In fact we could probably develop equipment
that could scan for such activity in a relatively short amount of time,
effectively replacing the need for in class exams that have to be graded
("Class, be sure to report to scanning room C on Thursday so I can see how
much you've learned so far this semester.")
Just my random thought of the morning... back to the mid-terms...
