Speaking of revisionist history, consider this recent Canadian 
(or perhaps Quebecois) example which claimed that the death 
of the Quebec government minister Pierre Laporte during the 
1970 "October Crisis" was an accident?

...an "accident" in which the kidnappers strangled the victim with 
his own crucifix chain. Not the kidnappers' fault, right? They 
wouldn't "hurt a fly".

A dreadful event, made worse by such a lie.
