Behalf Of Ken I recently purchased a second TiVo and decided to put
it on
my network so that I could transfer content between my two TiVos. I
ordered a Linksys USB200M Version 2 USB to Ethernet adapter from the
TiVo web site and connected it to my TiVo. The network test and
manual connection to the TiVo service works fine however after being
connected for about 24 hours the TiVo can no longer talk to the
network, the status says that there was a failure while configuring.
If I unplug the USB connector and plug it back in my network
connection comes back to life. I have moved the adapter to the second
USB connection on my TiVo and also tried the second TiVo with the same
results.
Is anyone else using this adapter? Do you have the same
problems? The documentation says that I need version 7.2.2 of the
TiVo software to use this adapter, I have the correct version on both
TiVos. Since this requires the latest version of the TiVo software I
am wondering if there is a problem with the drivers.

Ken:

I have a NetGear network USB adapter and the same thing happens. I'd say it
started happening more frequently over past 2 weeks. In the past it was
prbably once or twice a month. I posted about that a couple of times. Nobody
seemed to have the same problem at that time. I wonder if there is a problem
with the adapter when the wireless network goes down. I have LinkSys
wireless network all over the house and it's on a SRX router - a very good
machine. I have several computers wirelessly networked and I can tell on
each computer when the wireless network connection goes down for a short
while. For the most part the USB adapter then reconnects with no problems.

How are you assigning the IP address to TiVo - is it static or dynamic? I'd
assign a static IP for it because then it's always taken by Tivo and there
is no conflict. This can be a problem of some sort.
