Maybe I am being cynical here again.

Which non-govt school has expenses less than 5000/yr including fees, books
etc for 2 kids? Also from the looks of it, the kids must be at the end of
their school year since they are already in school.

Yes we can support this project, but seems to me that she is already in a
position to bear the expenses of 5000/yr and only needs help with old
clothes for her kids. In that case, we should provide just that support.

There definitely must be someone else who cannot even afford to pay for
their kids to go to school. Our funds are not unlimited and hence could be
used to support one such case.

And coming to the point of support from Vonumu, I am in agreement with their
philosophy of not taking up such a case. It might sound harsh, but there
are two ways to look at this kind of support. One is the outlook expressed
so far that we are helping the unfortunate children. BUt the other side
might be that in way, since we are not doing anything about their father's
drunken ways, not really helping them. If we so desire, we would be doing
these kids a much bigger favor if we are able to talk to the father and get
him to control his drinking habits. By paying their education costs, we are
not ensuring that they indeed get the education required. Indirectly we
might even encourage him as he might pester his wife to give him the
additional savings to support his habit.

In conclusion, are we really likely to make any difference here?

There is a lot of good will and generosity in this group. Just hope it does
not get misused or exploited by others
