Some thoughts to ponder over Suresh. Lets see what we can do. Talking to a
drunkard about leaving his addiction, wow, thts one thing I will not break
my head on :) A talk or two I guess, cannot keep talking to him day in and
day out, or if there are boot camp rehabs, I would just drag and drop him
down thr. Some of these guys are such idiots. We can never be on the same
level of decent talk, forget abt the lets make them understand and change
part.

However, irrespective of all this, this is one side of the picture I have
not really given much thought to Suresh. Will talk more to Ratan, and then
wait for the rest of the Team to respond.

Cheers!

Maybe I am being cynical here again.

Which non-govt school has expenses less than 5000/yr including fees, books
etc for 2 kids? Also from the looks of it, the kids must be at the end of
their school year since they are already in school.

Yes we can support this project, but seems to me that she is already in a
position to bear the expenses of 5000/yr and only needs help with old
clothes for her kids. In that case, we should provide just that support.

There definitely must be someone else who cannot even afford to pay for
their kids to go to school. Our funds are not unlimited and hence could be
used to support one such case.

And coming to the point of support from Vonumu, I am in agreement with
their philosophy of not taking up such a case. It might sound harsh, but
there are two ways to look at this kind of support. One is the outlook
expressed so far that we are helping the unfortunate children. BUt the other
side might be that in way, since we are not doing anything about their
father's drunken ways, not really helping them. If we so desire, we would be
doing these kids a much bigger favor if we are able to talk to the father
and get him to control his drinking habits. By paying their education costs,
we are not ensuring that they indeed get the education required. Indirectly
we might even encourage him as he might pester his wife to give him the
additional savings to support his habit.

In conclusion, are we really likely to make any difference here?

There is a lot of good will and generosity in this group. Just hope it
does not get misused or exploited by others
