Excellent ideas !!! 1) If I am confident of getting continuous funding for 100 students, I am ready to reduce my job to half-time and take charge of the school. This expression of interest holds good only if:
a) the school will support orphans / destitute preferably from SEZ effected families and b) the medium of instruction is Telugu. Needless to say, it will follow alternative models of education. My prefernce on place will be a village or a town or a tier-2 city (like Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam) away from Hyderabad. Hyderabad will be my last preference because there are already schools like Vidyaranya, Sloka, Prerna, Abhaya with these models. These towns and cities are insanely after the competitive culture in education. Something needs to be done about it. I have attended a 3-day workshop on Rishi Valley Rural Education models and I have no doubt in my mind about their model's applicability to Telugu medium school for the poor. Sri Padmanabharao's and his wife Rama's work is the most intellectual work I have known in my life. Kudos tothem. We can, over years make a part of the school commercial to make it self-sustaines (at least, partly) 2) If we are talking about a resource center on activity-based fun-filled learning, I suggest we talk to Butterfly Fields in Hyderabad among others like iDiscoveri. Rgds, Giri. ps: Whatever may be the place for the school, I can make my interest come true only if I am successful in getting part-time job in that place.
