1. How about that one: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=481447&postcount=6
John is doing wild guessing too. As I said. Nobody has ever shown what's going on. 2. "On headphones something happens. If you don't listen to headphones there is nothing." Hmmh, interesting statement and "very strong argumentation". You need to read it twice though to figure that there is a slight contradiction in that statement. ;) However, if you say there is nothing, there is nothing. Fair enough, even though it sounds like your personal "opinion" to me. I could ask you now what system are we talking about in your case - I won't do that - since it doesn't mean anything anyhow! To me you're confirming my finding too. If you call the changes subtle, fair enough - in a way they are subtle. If you hear them on the headphone they will have a higher impact on a real good system in terms of e.g. depth of stage. You'll never hear that kind of "stage" through your headphones anyhow. So, the next stage in this discussion will be that your measurements won't show anything. If these don't show anything there is nothing, will be the next argument. Phil, believe me, I had arguments about this topic at AA with Gordon Rankin etc. It took them almost 3 years to figure out or rather to admit that there is something they can't properly explain. The great thing with the Touch is that it got rid of 90% of all the trouble making sources in comparison to a standard PC. And the other good thing is that a little tweaking will make it even better. And I am also sure that a revised DUET would have been better performing than a Touch - at least on 44.1/16. The DUET was as slim as a streaming client(a FPGA based device) can get. I am sure that the Touch would face a hard time today to beat an revised DUET( PS, SPDIF and other HW tweaks as discussed in the forum ).
