(was going to post this as a new thread but its along the same
lines...)

I know that a lot of people have been using Squeezeboxes for years as
network music players and have come to think of the network part of
that as the prime function. The reason I waited for a Touch over a SQ3
(or any other SQ) was only because it was advertised as having its own
internal sever and the ability to play direct from a USB. Reading
through a lot of the threads on hear it appears I am not the only
person who bought a Touch with this use in mind.

I don't want to moan on about how crap the internal server is on the
Touch.

My point is, I can't believe that it is such a massive problem in
software terms to get a Touch to just reliably play files from a USB
drive. I can get it to work (after a while) but I just don't understand
how on earth this causes such a problem when it should be a really
simple action for it to perform. I know its not got masses of
processing power, but how much does it need to just reed files from a
USB dive? Really, someone tell me if I am way off the mark here, is it
not quite a simple thing in computing terms to do?

The biggest quandary is how nobody thought it would be a good idea to
put in an option to turn off all the external networking capabilities
(or disable them or something) for people like me who will never use
them. Surely this would at least cut down the load on the processor and
help other things run better that I actually want to use.

Can someone please tell me these sorts of issues are going to be looked
at for future updates. I just want it to play music when I turn it on,
how hard can that be?
