I have not seen what you are trying to do or how you are doing it so
this is more of a question and speculation for I am not having any
issues using Touch in a standalone mode. When you first plug everything
in and turn it on, are you trying to do other things with the Touch or
are you just walking away and letting it do its scan? I have found it
best just to let it do its thing. The only thing I do is goto
Setting>Advanced>Squeezebox Server so I can see what is going on and
when its finished. In this way I have had no issues with using large
USB drives. Also the few times I have had a problem in the past, it was
because I was trying to hurry the Touch. If anything does happen, I have
found it best to eject the drive and then attach the drive to a PC and
delete the Touch dot whatever files and let it start fresh from
scratch.
