I've used A5's for the last 4 years. Good sound, for the price. They are "powered" (passive crossover, one amp per channel) whereas I'm fairly sure the Alesis Monitors will be "active" (active crossover, one amp per driver). So I suspect the equivalent sized Alesis may sound better (but look worse).
