This allows to have it as an autonomous system on your HiFi chain with an external drive. My design goal when I choose this was to have a "green" solution... external powered USB drives do require an additional power supply which is consuming quite a lot of power compared to having only one (stronger and better quality) power supply directly on the SQ. My favored setup would therefore be to use a drive that is powered by the SQ and I would rather "hack" the SQ to give its power supply enough "ooomph" such that it can power the additional load. But - so far, the Verbatim 500GB USB drive I am using has no problem with the SQ Touch power supply and is running fine without interruptions. HOWEVER: The software of the SQ touch seems to have a bug... the Verbatim USB drive is always mounted as "read only". I need to login and manually umount / remount with the "-rw" option. I wonder if I can change any of the startup scripts or fstab on the SQ touch in order to fix that? -- Siegfried Löffler * http://dg1sek.home.pages.de * Tel1 +33 95173 4711 * Tel2: +49 7145 969098 * Fax +33 95673 4711
