My negative sentiment towards Stereophile is a result not of their excellent reviews of the Squeezebox Classic and Transporter but rather a result of their lack of follow up with the entire concept of computer based digital audio. When I read Stereophile I can't help getting the feeling that networked music players are treated more as a pleasant divergence rather than as a true source component for a serious high end audio system. Like wise for TAS. Plus there is Stereophile's and TAS's fixation with USB based DACs, where again computer based digital audio is treated as a nice little side show rather than the main event. For clarification: by "follow up" I mean things like discussing the various interfaces available for accessing one's computer based digital music, comparing the different music library software available and ripping and tagging of CDs from an audiophile prespective. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81346 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
