If the distortion stays on the same side when you swap the cables l/r from the Touch, the problem is with the Pre-amp or power amp (or speakers...)
Turn down the volume on the Touch and connect it directly to the power amp inputs. If distortion goes, problem definitely lies with pre-amp. If distortion still there, swap cables left/right into power amp - if distortion stays put, problem is definitely with power amp or speakers Swap power amp to speakers l/r if distortion moves... you get the idea.
