Here we go. The touch is wired. The same connection as I used with the
sb3. I do not believe that it is shielded cat 5 wire. Connecting just
one output of the touch still had distortion. Plugging the touch into a
different electrical circuit does not alter he distortion. I tried the
touch in another receiver and it worked properly. There seems to be an
interaction problem at work here. As far as levels, the cd player may
even sound a little louder than the touch at full volume. Preamp volume
setting equal for both inputs. I cant see how the touch could be
overloading the pre. The levels were not that hot with my test song.
Even so, playing songs that are much lover in overall level still sound
bad. The touch sounds flat compared to the cd. No life. Is there some
other signal present at the rca outs that might cause the distortion? I
am sure that it is just the left input of the pre that is sensitive. On
the other hand using the headphone out even with its lover level sounds
much closer to the cd (with matching the preamp levels) and more
"interesting" than the sb3. I don't have any real issue using the
headphone output with the exception of having to use an rca to mini
adaptor. All of this just puzzles me Any more thoughts?
