Sounds pretty similar to what happens with a USB disc drive that I
have.  The Touch doesn't have enough bus power to spin the disk and it
sits there making a clicking sound.  The clicks with mine are very
faint.  The disc is formatted FAT32, so the NTFS thing is a red
herring.  It works on anything else I've ever hooked it up to and would
occasionally also work on the Touch, maybe one time in 20 attempts.
