No offense meant, but I think you are confused about how the Squeezebox universe works. Hey, I was confused a couple of years ago when I first ran across this stuff. I'm a foobar user as well, but it is a music management system and a software player. SqueezeboxServer (SbS) is the music management software for the players, and then the hardware players (or SqueezePlay, the software player OR controller) is what you are streaming your own music to (or internet radio, or pandora, etc.). I think an important issue that we've not raised is whether you have installed SqueezeboxServer, and had it scan your music files to create a SbS music library. You first need to do this. And it is perfectly OK that you point SbS to the same music library that you also point foobar to. They will independently use the same music files. Let me describe my main setup and maybe that will help. 1. I have a computer in a back closet. This computer is connected to my router via ethernet. This computer runs SqueezeboxServer (SbS). My music is on a harddisk connected to this computer. Within SbS (which I can reach via a web interface on a browser on this computer or ANY other computer that is on my network) I can see my music library (artists, albums, genres, etc.). So this is my music server. It is ready to stream my music to all my various SB players around the house. 2. I have a SB Transporter connected physically to my main stereo system. Think of the transporter like it is a CD player. But instead, the SbS in the computer in #1 above, is streaming my digital music to the Transporter, which in turn feeds a analog or digital stream to my amplifier and thus my speakers, etc. My transporter is also connected to my router via an ethernet connection, but it could just as easily be connected via WIFI. 3. I have other SB players in the house too. For example, I have a TOUCH in the TV room. The TOUCH is connected to my home theatre setup (the amp/speakers). The TOUCH gets its music from the same computer stream from SbS described in #1 above. I also have a BOOM in my bedroom. Again, the Boom gets music from the computer running SbS in #1 above. 4. I can play different things at the same time on all 3 of these players. Or I can sync 2 or more of the players to play the identical thing with perfect timing. 5. I can control all of the players from any of the following: (and by control I mean select artists, albums, songs, play, pause, stop, change volume, etc.) a. A laptop running SqueezePlay (SP) where I have selected the appropriate SB Player in the "Choose Player" menu of SP. The laptop is WIFI connected in my local network. b. My iPhone running "iPeng" or my wife's iPhone running iPeng c. A SB CONTROLLER (and again, I have to Choose Player on the CONTROLLER's menu to make sure I'm controlling the right player) d. Not to confuse, but I can also control any of the three players from the screen of the TOUCH itself. But again, I must "choose player" in the Touch menu to select the player I want to control with the TOUCH. If I want to control the TOUCH player from the TOUCH menu, I have to make sure that in Choose Player I've selected the TOUCH. So bottom line, there is ONE instance of SbS running on one computer. It serves music to any SB Players connected to my local network (either by ethernet or via WIFI). And in your case the SB Players being considered are (1) the TOUCH or (2) SqueezePlay, the software player. It just seems from your posts that the above is not clear to you. Please post any questions.
