Organising music files and folder structures is new functionality I just added to bliss: 'Organise music files - bliss' (http://www.blisshq.com/organise-music-files.html) and see the new tutorial here: 'Tidy your music folder' (http://www.blisshq.com/support/tutorials/tidy-music-folder-file-org.html). Hope this might be of some use to some people (usual caveats: commercial software etc etc).
On the subject of lossless/lossy and different file types, it would probably be simple to specify the pattern as <fileextension>/<artist>... The thing to watch out for when organising or restructuring existing libraries is that the music players you use don't think you've deleted music when the music has changed location... This can cause music player-local information (e.g. ratings, play counts) to be reset. It depends on the music player though. -- elstensoftware 'bliss' (http://www.blisshq.com) - fully automated music library management.
