I am in the business of software development, and have been for 20
years.
For applications and databases far more complex than squeezebox
software and database.

In my opinion, the correct attitude is not extrapolate than the
software is fine, just because it works fine for you.
Ok the fact that you are satisfied means than not 100% of customers are
ready to throw the application through the window ...

But if you want Logitech to go on selling squeezebox product,
everything must be fine, not only for you, or for a few customers.

There is no need to be an expert to see that a lot of people, and a lot
of experienced people tell that TinySBS is not satisfying.

At the beginning, I was like you, and satisfied.
But after a few weeks, it was obvious for me, that this functionality
is not ok for most people, if the goal is to replace SBS.
It is not reliable enough, if you regularly disconnect the usb hdd, or
regularly add new files.
Rescanning time is not acceptable for normal people, with normal use.
Don't get me wrong, I still think it is fine with usb stick of 8GB
(with 7.6, not 7.5.3, nor 7.5.4), but not for big HDD

If Logitech stopped to advertise the TinySBS thing (I fully approve
this decision), it is not just to bother you, and please a small
minority of disatisfied customers ...

Your experience is very strange.
I am listening several hours a day all week long, not only on weekends
like you.
I guess that on working days, your ISP may be more loaded than on
weekends.
And while you listen 12 hours a day on weekends, a lot of people, like
me, are not at home using their computers.

This could explain why you have very few problems, and why your
personal situation cannot be extrapolated.

I have one the best internet connection you can imagine having at home,
with astonishing performance for everything
(FTTH connection 100Mb down and 50Mb up, with usually even better
figures)

I guess the streams you are listening to, are extremely stable.
Because normally, a lot of radios streams have occasionally small
dropouts.

If I listen to those streams with my laptop, I have no problem, and can
hardly notice some very short dropouts when the stream server is not as
its best.
If I listen to the same streams with SBS, it can be perfectly fine for
a week or two.
But sometimes, while I have no problem listening with any other
software on the laptop, I have several seconds rebuffering with the
Touch (unacceptable for a normal customer), and with 7.5.3, it just
stops playing.

You can think whatever you want, it is obvious for me than the problem
is 100% in the squeezebox chain.
I have 0 problem (very short droppout due to the stream server is not a
problem for me) with any other software and the laptop.

It is not just me, a lot of people have the same problem.

7.5.4 RC doesn't solve problems I have for USB sticks, and I won't
loose my time with 7.5.x versions.

7.6 seems much better, I hope Logitech started to handles problems
after seeing what happened with 7.5.3

In my opinion, SBS developers were prone to add new things in what
should be maintenance releases where no regression should be tolerated.
