I just lately realized that my Transporters digital volume control prevents the hard clipping of intersample overs when i use it at my normal volume setting, mostly below -8dB. If i interpret my readings correctly a nearly clipped signal can create peaks after analog conversation up to +6dB. When no care is taken on the DAC side you may have very hard clipping. On the Transporter that means a fixed 100% volume may have more downsides as using the internal volume control. I have not done any testing, since i use my Transporter directly into my amps. Just wanted to mention this as food for thought.
