That makes sense if one oversimplifies grossly a filter is a filter and
the headroom is probably needed in the digital domain too , may explain
why they operates at higher bitrates then the actual dac they serve in
some cases ? or not . I have actually never delved into the finer
details of filter design .
But the effect is surely exaggerated on today’s broken recordings , this
was not a problem in the old days when real engineers did not clip the
recordings or even left a conservative amount of headroom .

The new benchmark sure looks interesting .
