It's an interesting thread to read and I'd be interested in the
definition of what makes the Touch sound 'not as good'.

I prefer the sound of my MF system, compared to a Naim or an Arcam. But
there's just as many people who would say the opposite. They sound
different and it comes down to listening preference. I think my system
is more musical, but probably not as clear as an Arcam, but is down to
personal taste and how the music is presented.

I have no idea what DAC my MF CD player has, but it sounds very good and
I've never bothered with an external processor.

The Touch also sounds good, but with the MF DAC it sounds more to be
liking. I was going to go for the M1, which price was, would be more
in-line with my Nu-Vista set up, but with the sound source being what it
is (Spotify), it would be a waste of money unless I was going to go for
complete lossless rip of CD's (which I'm not going to do).

If you are really unhappy with the sound, when compared to your CD
player, then I'd consider (in this order):

Experimenting with how and what you are using to rip your CD's with
Switching the cables between the the Touch and amplifier with the cable
between your CD and amp
Using an external DAC, which is more similar in sound with what you
prefer - there's some surprisingly good value DAC's out there at the
$300-500 price point.

Magidac is something that appears quite often, but haven't listened to
personally.

Thank.
