2 possible issues 1. Is your SBT still looking at the deceased Laptop LMS ? 2. If you connect your browser to http://ipaddressofthePC:9000 - do you see the Music there ? If not then I suspect that LMS can't properly see the USB disk. An internal HD would be better as the direct connection over SATA will be infinitely quicker/more stable than over USB (even USB3.0)
