Thought I'd give an update.  I returned previous new computer and just
got a new Dell - thinking my old Dell works fine.  Well my new Dell has
Windows 8 and sure enough immediately had stopping of streamed music. 
Even more so than on the other "new" computer.  So I'm thinking it's
Windows 8 till I read this on support site:

Windows
Make sure these ports are unblocked and have network access:

•TCP 9000, 9090, 3483
•UDP 3483

I went into Firewall and turned it off to test.  Sure enough no
problems!

I added Squeezebox setting with above ports.  Turned firewall back on
and so far so good.  Keeping fingers crossed.

My problem I think was I was trying to solve things in Windows settings
versus McAfee.  Duh!
