Sure, just as those in the anti-science camp disregard the possibility
that their hearing might not be a totally infallible and absolute
instrument.

If we talk about numerical measurements, then yes, definitely. But there
is a method that does tell us, quite reliably, if there is a difference
or not. Controlled, double-blind ABX listening.

My apologies if you felt I was misusing your comment. 

I guess we have 3 very different questions - "Is system A more
objectively transparent than system B", "do people in general consider
system A better sounding than system B", and "do I like the sound of
system A more than I like the sound of system B". The problems start
when we confuse these 3 separate cases...
