1. Regarding running LMS in the TOUCH: This thread will get you started. There are many others on the forum from back then as well. The short (unofficial) version of the story is that at the last minute they realized that there *might* be enough memory and processing power within the TOUCH. So they included a stripped-down version of LMS (called SbS then) inside the TOUCH. It can't easily run plugins and a few other limitations. You'll see from reading this and other threads that there were lots of headaches with this. Bottom line, just not enough processing power in the TOUCH. You don't see much discussion of this anymore because the availability of lo-power, tiny "computers" that can be stuck in the back of a cabinet has made the point moot for most people. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?82070-Touch-with-USB-drive-mastering-TinySB&highlight=TinySbs 2. Regarding wifi vs ethernet. I like to use ethernet whenever possible as it just removes certain variables (interference, etc.). That said, some of my SBs are wifi and have no issues with FLAC files. And there are many people on this forum that use FLAC and wifi, even hi-res FLAC. Again, it is not as if there will be subtle "sound quality" differences. WIFI either will or won't work well and it will be obvious (dropouts, buffering, etc.). *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio (all ethernet) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.9 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104388 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
