That is your opinion. I can clearly tell the difference between the SBT
analogue output and my offboard DAC, and that's my opinion. Get angry
all you like but your opinion is no more valid than mine because you
don't have proof there is no difference either.

Let's face it, even the squeezebox team chose a DAC. They didn't just
pick the cheapest one, they chose one they thought would be the best for
their application.

There is a difference between legit modification such as changing the
fundamental design of major components (e.g. choosing a sonos instead of
a sbt) and the guys who try to sell you half tennis balls for fifty quid
or digital coax cables for a grand. The former are people experimenting
with real changes (maybe not improvements - that is a totally different
debate) but certainly /changes/ to the sound, the latter are peddling
snake oil and should be ignore.

So, plenty of people can hear the difference between two DACs fed the
same data in an otherwise unchanged system and you can measure the
differences in their outputs. So is it any of your business whether they
should spend that money or not? No.
