As long as they are just opinions, as in "I prefer black gear over silver-coloured gear", then yes. But were someone make the claim "a black-colored amp sounds different than a silver-coloured one", it is something that can be questioned and challenged, and it is fair to ask a justification for the statement. "I just think it is so" is of course a valid answer (making clear there is no rational justification). Another issue is that discussions of subjective preferences is probably best carried out down in the "audiophile" sub-forum, so that the factual discussions (such as "how do I make LMS not resample 48/24 to 44.1/16?") don't get swamped by endless discussions about subjective preferences.
