My LMS runs on a Raspberry Pi running piCorePlayer. It has a cable connection to the router and is powered via a USB cable. The NAS holds the music files and is also wired to the router.
All my players connect wirelessly via the router. The Pi is housed in a small basic black case. No problems with performance or overheating. It's been the easiest solution since I started with Squeezeboxen.
