It seems to have done the trick in my case.
The Touch's inbuilt server doesn't need an internet/wifi connection to serve local music, and doesn't "phone home". It will play local music forever, until the user starts to send multiple button presses, then it just can't handle it and "cr@ps out". User then needs to start over, with the Touch re-scanning the card/stick/drive which can take ages depending on the number of tracks. Not a good user experience. I bought a Touch when they first came out solely intended for use in my holiday home, based on responses to my question here: https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?69041-Can-the-Touch-be-a-stand-alone-player (note the date - 10 years ago). As it turned out I was extremely disappointed with it's performance. I have 2 Touches (don't ask) that I don't use. LMS doesn't need/use mysqueezebox.com to serve local music, Radio stations, or free music service plugins/apps. LMS only needs mysqueezebox.com when using music services that need authentication. *Study/Server - LMS 7.9.2 -* Pi3B+/pCP 4.1.0/pi screen/HiFiBerry DAC+/jivelite, 25K library and playlists on WDMyCloud, LMS cache on a USB stick (formatted ntfs). *Lounge* - Pi2/pCP 4.1.0 > HiFiBerry DIGI+ > AudioEngine DAC1 > AVI DM5 *Dining Room* - Squeezebox Boom *Garage* - Pi3B/Pi screen/HiFiBerry DAC+/pCP 4.1.0 > Edifier R980T *In car* - RPi3B/pCP in AP mode > HiFiBerry DAC+ > car's audio (files on a 2TB USB drive) *Spares* - 2xTouch, 1xSB3, 1xRadio, 4xRPi ------------------------------------------------------------------------ kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110255 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
