I'd like to vote for the opposite request (in order not to ask any
user to enable quick jump in a team that is used to Wiki syntax), so I
think the defaut setting would better be defines as an option in the
project configuration file.

This request can be extended over the quick jump question. Should the
default settings for Trac be
a/ to use Wiki format wherever possible (Commit log, Ticket comments,
Quickjump, ...) to take advantage of Trac powerful syntax
capabilities, but may surprise or frighten new comers or
b/ to use Wiki syntax in wiki page, but keep the commit log, ticket
comment, etc. wiki-free and disable quickjump feature

Waldemar and I have opposite feelings about this point.

I would not like to disable most of the Trac powerful syntax in a
developer team that can be teached in a couple of minutes how to use
Trac wiki syntax, while I understand Waldermar's opinion which
considers Trac in a more open environment where Trac users may be
random users that really don't care about Wiki syntax and simply want
to report a bug, as with any lambda bug tracker.

IMHO Trac can be quite versatile and fits well in many different
environments and projects and I think that one way to reach this wide
audience is not to force one mode or another, but give the Trac
administrator/maintainer the final choice.

That said, there is an issue with this approach: Trac is now widely
used in OSS, and as a Trac user I would not like having to guess
whether a Trac installation is wiki-enabled or not whenever I fill in
a new ticket on another Trac site...
Enabling too many configuration settings (not mentioning the setup
nightmare and potential support nightmare...) would also confuse the
end user who is used to Trac.

Cheers,
Manu
