Hello,
Whatever implementation is chosen, I would consider this as an important
part of the new custom workflow functionality.

The http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/NewWorkflow#Changesfornewworkflow lists
additional changes in Trac 0.8 that has been made in order to complete the
workflow support in Trac:
 - Reports need to be updated to handle common cases of workflow
customization
 - Milestones need to support new statuses
 - Timeline needs to provide events (with corresponding icons) for some
important transitions.

A quick review of the patch (from functionality point of view) has shown
that this is exactly what I have planned during implementation of the
workflow patch for 0.8.

So, I would vote for including this into Trac core.

Regards,
 Pavel

p.s.: Sorry for previous incomplete post.
