I suggest opening a ticket with the TracAnnouncerPlugin with the proposed
enhancements. The maintainer might even accept the functionality as a plugin
and host it in the codebase of TracAnnouncer. If they decide it is outside
the scope of their plugin, then a separate hack page can be made. I wouldn't
consider this commonly accepted etiquette, but I personally think it is
highly preferred to immediately creating another hack.
TracAnnouncer is currently maintained by hasienda and doki_pen, I'm sure
they will be very responsive to your requests, particularly if you are
sending them a patch.
