ok, I have a Alinco DR-135 Connected to a KPC3plus, running as a digipeater,
I did not have UI-View connected to the Internet, if this helps. when I
monitor the KP3plus, the DR-135 that is connected to the Nuvi shows to be
transmitting my call, KC0WNY-15 at least. I have the A side as 4800, Garmin,
the B side as 4800 baud, and Flow. In a previous post I included a shot of
my current setup, the thing is, the Nuvi did appeared to be working as
required when I first connected it, I was able to send a message from it and
receive the message back to it, althought it took a few minutes, there could
be something wrong with it I guess, but it is communicating with the radio,
I can send a --version message with it and it will respond immediately, also
I should mention that when I send a message from the Nuvi, and I check the
outbox, it shows sending, this never changes, as if it is continually
sending and when i look at aprs.fi, that is what it looks like it is doing,
I know very little about how all this works. Thanks for all the Replies

For a message to get from UI-View to your T2/Nuvi via RF (assuming
UI-View is only Internet connected), some IGate that considers your T2
to be "recently" "local" will have to transmit it over the RF. Do you
have another RF station from which you can monitor the raw APRS traffic?

In too many areas of the country, the IGates are receive-only which
means they won't even gate messages from the Internet to RF. If they
won't do that, your messaging will only work locally on RF from another
RF station. You'll be able to send TO and Internet station FROM your
Nuvi, but expect to receive many many copies as the T2/Nuvi won't get
the ack back from that station either.

I solved this problem by putting up my own IGate with receive AND
transmit (gating only messages) capabilities. Turns out I was just in
time as the other IGate took a hurricane hit and dropped his antenna
from 200 feet to about 20!
