Paulette,

If the Patient 'is' the Subscriber, you would not use the 2000C at all.  I
think what could be confusing you is the fact that the PAT Segment states
"Required",   but as this is only if you USE the 2000C loop.  "18" is not
there because you do not send this HL unless the Patient is NOT the
Subscriber.  Refer to page 52 of the 837X098 guide, it explains it a little
there also.

There is no code for patients relationship to insured if the patient is the
insured
which would be SELF.  What are other people coding in this instance?
