Bruce,

The product is handheld but is the product battery powered?
(Is there a power cord connecting it to earth ground?)

Is there some complexity with the operator having hold the device to
get the device to operate? (Do they have to hold a button down for
the device to be powered on?) If you are permitted, please elaborate
     on this detail.

Is there some complexity with the device being operated for only a few
seconds? (Does it "pulse" on then shut itself off?) Again, if you
     can, please elaborate.

     Thanks

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone out there had any experience with handheld products being tested for
ESD immunity? We have a product for testing that can only be operated while
being held by the operator and its only used for a few seconds at a time. IEC
801-2/IEC 1000-4-2 does not seem to address this situation. Is ESD testing
required? I can't see how the product would be hit be ESD as its only operated
while being held in someones hand.

Any reply would be appreciated.
