I don't know if this will help in your specific application - but
internal to equipment I have many times used super glue/plastic
grommeting - consult your local plastic parts distributor.

Thanks for responding.
We are at this moment looking at ways of improving the edges by making
changes to the manufacturing process as this is indeed a valued
customer.
Unfortunately without a standard we only have the judgement of the
customer as a guideline i.e. someone running their fingers along the
edges to see whether they are considered sharp or not.
This judgement may change daily.
This is where the standards play a part rather than relying on the
vagaries of the customer.
