the important thing is what your customer wants, not what any standard 
says.
     
If your customer wants them gold plated, and has the money to pay for that, 
you don't argue with him and start gold-plating.   If he does not have the 
money
than you must make a business decision on whether you want that customer.
     
This has nothing to do with standards.
